Performance of TSA and VSA post-combustion CO2 capture processes with a biomass waste-based adsorbent

Carbon capture in post-combustion flue gases is vital on the grounds that most of energy requirement world supplied by non-renewable sources. Biomass-based CO2 adsorbents are interest due to their high potential adsorption capacity and contribution sustainable circular economy. In current study, Temperature Swing Adsorption (TSA) Vacuum (VSA) configurations were carried out evaluate performance a hazelnut shell-based activated carbon adsorbent from dry simulated cyclic operation. A fixed-bed reactor with single column used test for concentrations 14% 30% temperatures 30 °C 50 at atmospheric pressure, which resemble conditions industrial processes. Various TSA VSA designed influence steps product (CO2) purity, recovery, productivity, specific consumption different concentration temperature evaluated. For process, highest purity recovery obtained 92% 100%, respectively; while they 86% 82% revealing cycle biomass-based reported literature.
